Windows 8 has a "feature" to make text "the same size" on all monitors, even if they have differing dot pitch. Unfortunately, for some fucked up reason, Microsoft implements this using raster scaling, so it looks like crap. To turn it off, right click the desktop > screen resolution > make text larger or smaller > "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" Note that you may need to flip it to a higher setting and then back down again, as just setting the default scaling sometimes makes the "let me choose" setting not take effect.
